The Tour of Doctor Syntax, through London, 8vo, aquatint frontis., title, 18 plates, all hand-colored, half later calf, L., no date [imprint cropped]. Nicely bound in half calf, spine raised with compartments blind and tooled in gilt, dark brown label with title gilt. Some foxing and light soiling throughout, plates still vivid and bright. This is an important Rownlandson work as it directly influenced Rodolphe Topffer who would produce in 1833 what is considered the first comic book, Histoire de M. Jabot. e-mail for more pictures.
