Printed by John Baskerville; for T. Field & J. Payne, 59pp., modern half vellum, small 8vo. With the rare variant title that says T.Field in Cheapside; and J.Payne, in Paternoster-Row. Negligible light scratches to front board but in wonderful shape and bound by Peter Brogren, Toyko, modern quarter vellum with lovely spine title. Meant as a complete introduction to the entertaining world of medals for those who didn't want to read large volumes on the topic. It was a challenge for Baskerville, just the way he liked it, with numerous and varied fonts used. Pretty gilt bookplate of Herman Kapp. A very handsome and rare esition. Gaskell 28.
