Vivid and delicious colours jump off the page. Jacket worn at edges with two closed tears at top edge and light chipping at extremities; touch of fading to cloth; overall very good to near fine. With folding slipcase faded and rubbed but complete with ivory ties. One of 700 printed. Suzuki Harunabu (1724-1770) another of the Ukiyo-e school, used poetry to enhance his prints creating a romantic lyrical atmosphere. Beautiful work in an exotic and intriguing presentation. Lovely and unusual presentation, cream wraps bound with white cord stitching, many colour and black and white illustrations, some foldouts and on varied paper construction, very solid and clean, some chipping to one tissue guard else near fine. Folding slipcase defective but intact, rubbed with spine faded but complete with ivory ties. The best English work on the Japanese artist. The Japanese painter and printmaker Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) is considered one of the six great masters of the Ukiyo-e school. He is most famous for his landscape prints, which render typically Japanese landscapes in their different moods in a very poetic manner. A delightful work in an exotic and intriguing presentation.
